Not that any of us really need more evidence that I am a dork, but here goes:  I love it when books come with their own grosgrain ribbon bookmark!

This looks like jewels, all colorful and brightly lit, lined up and waiting on the jeweler to set them into a necklace, maybe, or a bracelet.

Or else it is a bunch of flavors of Gatorade, chilled.

My friend Jan calls it the Earring Garage - and here's a detail of some of the occupants.

The spray from the irrigation system looked like a swath of tulle hovering above the new cotton.

Inside the nearly-complete Lubbock County jail.

It's not what you think - I was on a tour.  Really.

I don't think the cat is reading Anne Lamott's book, but I guess it's possible.*

Lubbock, Texas

*Don't misunderstand me - it's not that I think the cat is illiterate, it's just that, traditionally, she's been more a fan of Lamott's non-fiction work.

Sometime around 45 years ago, my dad planted a tree at the corner of his house.  It was a little tree and so it was hard to imagine that someday that tree - a Japanese black pine - would grow so big that it would tear up the corner of the house.  So, with great sadness, my dad had the tree guy come and cut down the tree.

And, then we hauled some of the logs up to a chainsaw carver in Whitharral, and this snake is one of four pieces he made for us from that old tree.

The artist is Cam Dockery - check out his work:  Bearly Making It chainsaw carvings.

I guess if you think about it, there's really no reason to not have a giant bikini-clad mannequin outside a carwash.

PS - My mom would have said the mannequin was "bosomy."

Go to Adkins Architectural Antiques, if you are in Houston and need something to do.  Climb the stairs all the way to the attic, and you'll see this stuff!

The windows on the front of this store indicate you can get carpet, jewelry, shoes, toys, clothes, and baby gifts here.  However, I wouldn't count on using the drive-up window.

From the looks of things, I'd say this was the former location of the Jim Dan-dy Cleaners.
